…to return to blogging.
I know what you’ve been thinking. You’ve been thinking this site should be renamed EmbraceTheSloth.com. And you know what? You’re absolutely, completely, and totally…50% correct.
During the year I’ve been away, I set a lot of projects aside, and unfortunately, SubdueTheSloth was one of those projects. There are a lot of legitimate reasons for that choice, but I’m back now with no promises as to whether or not it will happen again.
Now in more positive news, my conditioning is still in essentially the same place it was a year ago, that 50% I’ve subdued. I’ve only averaged about 6 miles per week running, but I’ve also been mixing in more strength training and some physically challenging home projects.
Beyond the usual array of scrapes and dings, I’ve also had to deal with the unexpected. Injuries and health continue to get in the way of longer-term fitness goals and endeavors. I won’t go into a lot of details on those as I feel like I’m always talking about my health, but suffice it to say, I’m doing quite a bit better right now than I was even a few weeks ago. Let’s not even talk about last December <shudder/>.
Looking ahead to 2020, I am optimistic that my body will allow me to get back to running higher mileage and racing. And if it doesn’t…well…there’s always the couch and a bag of chips.
